Well, if you are reading this you missed it! WEGC’s shotgun director Sonny Harris hosted a great BBQ coupled with getting members up to speed for the upcoming dove season (or for just breaking clays in general). Sonny took over launching the clays himself so he could offer help to novice shooters.
Several dozen WEGC members showed up for the event. It didn’t hurt that Sonny elected to give a discount on a round of skeet during this event. Not that WEGC’s normal price of $7 a round is expensive! I noticed that several shooters felt sorry for the clay birds and let them fly off unbroken. Or perhaps they need to show up for a few more sessions.
All of the shooters were having a great time at the shotgun range. Of course, one of the best things is getting to talk to other members and compare gear. The shotguns used were a mix of traditional side by sides to modern box magazine guns. You don’t need a fancy gun to enjoy this sport!
Not only did Sonny provide a great shooting experience, but, he bought lunch! Sonny drafted his son to come and run the grill. There were hamburgers and hot dogs grilled to perfection. I had one of each!
Congratulations to our shotgun director for a great event! If you have any questions about shooting trap or skeet at the club, you can contact Sonny at shotgun@wegc.org. For range schedule or general questions, see out shotgun page.
