It is time to start the 2025 election for the Board of Directors to serve the 2026 term. Why so early one may ask?
Actually it is not early when one realizes the process is rather a long one. Candidates are not only nominated (or nominate themselves), but there are qualifications for office. There is a process spelled out in the Bylaws and Policy & Procedure Manual (Bylaw Articles IV & VI; Policy & Procedures Sections 5,6,& 7). The election Committee has also created a Primer, or guide, to the process (a copy may be has by contacting the Committee at elections@wegc.org).
The committee is always seeking candidates willing to serve as a director, so please consider what you may offer to the club by way of serving the members as a director, assistant or committee member. It may seem a bit much to ask of our membership, but it is a members club, run by members for members. It is also rewarding to know your volunteering is the heart of our mutual shooting sport organization.
Catch your eye? So what are the qualifications? First is being a voting member in good standing for a minimum of one year.
Candidates for a Discipline Director Board position shall be experienced with and an active participant of the discipline for which they have been nominated. The level of participation that meets this requirement can be set by a majority vote of the Board of Directors.
Candidates for a Officer position (President, Secretary, Vice President or Treasure) shall have been a voting member in good standing, at the time of nomination, for a minimum of one year and meet the following qualifications and must also be bondable;
Attendance of at least 8 Club meetings during the preceding year as a Voting member, as recorded in the Club Meeting Sign-In Log kept by the Sergeant-at Arms, or have provided equivalent verifiable service to the WEGC in any volunteer position for a similar length of time; and any one of the following;
Prior service as a West End Gun Club Director of one year or more during the last five years including service as a non-voting appointee Board Member;
Appointed to and actively serving continuously with 1 year of service or 2 years partial service, on any standing committee(s) with regular attendance at monthly Club meetings, at least 6 per year as recorded in the Club Meeting Sign-In Log kept by the Sergeant-at Arms.
Or have verifiable prior service with another non-profit gun club, or professional experience in the business community comparable to the West End Gun Club requirements.
So how about considering running for office? Please contact the Election Committee at elections@wegc.org, we would like to hear from you. But in any event keep an eye out for future election information.

Notes:
The number of ballots returned is consistent with prior years, with
seven postmarked after the cut off date; arriving prior to retrieval date.
Reportidly, a non-voting member was sent a ballot which was voted. This
should be investigated by the Inspectors of Election by comparing the
membership roster with the mailing list for this election.
One to three directors apparently intefered with the election by
unilatterally changing the voter instructions without proper authority.
(Corp 7614 & BL & Policy)
CORP 5017, when read in context, allows for errors, and as only a small number
of ballot issues were observed, the error rate could be deemed acceptable.
CORP 5017 (e)(1) also provides recourse to any member upon filing a petition
to the Superior Court. In light of the interference and errors, CORP provides
for the actions of the Corporation’s agents (Inspectors of Elections) to not be
invalidated, yet provide for standing on appeal to the Superior Court.
This Committee, acting as Inspectors of Election, cautiously CERTIFIES this ELECTION.
